The development team at Bungie says that it has a clear 10-year plan for its upcoming Destiny universe that is not linked in any way to the hardware that will be introduced.

Pete Parsons, the chief operation officer at the studio, tells GamesIndustry.biz that the mix of story elements and social interaction in the new universe can be created on a variety of devices.

The developer says, “What we decided to do was make one central design build, and then understanding how we export that to each of the individual platforms – that's the right way to future proof our technology, particularly when you're making a much more living, persistent world.”

Destiny is at the moment set to arrive on current-gen consoles and on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

Bungie has not yet said whether it planned to also deliver a version of the game for the PC.
