Video game developer Bungie and publisher Activision have confirmed the existence of The Taken King expansion for Destiny and the fact that its launch date is set for September 15 on all platforms, with the new content centered around a major new threat to the game world.

Now, the two companies are also offering a new video documentary, which supplements the reveal trailer shown during E3 2015 and gives fans some more details about the new mechanics and the kinds of game modes they will be able to take part in.

The main villain of The Taken King is Oryx, who is returning to the solar system to attack those Guardians who have killed his son Crota.

Bungie is promising that battling the new boss will offer a new take on the classic mechanics of the social shooter.

The company is also planning to introduce new modes for the Crucible and to add more weapons and items that the Guardians can use to improve their performance.

A Legendary Edition of the title will be offered for all those who want all the expansions and the core title in one package.

Until then, Destiny will get access to a wide array of updates that will improve the already existing experiences added in House of Wolves.
