The PlayStation 4 home console from Sony is having a pretty solid month so far, chiefly due to the release of Bungie's sci-fi shooter Destiny, which is pushing sales of the console through the roof.

First, we heard about the PlayStation 4 having its biggest week so far this year in the United States, then came the news from Japan's Media Create charts, showing a surge in PS4 sales, which were holding steady until last week.

Now, the time has come for the United Kingdom to reveal its hardware sales figures, and the charts show once again the PlayStation 4 dominating with a massive 300 percent spike in sales, week-over-week.

This is all due to Destiny, which thanks to the PlayStation 4's higher adoption rate and the marketing deal struck between Activision and Sony, prohibiting Microsoft from promoting the game on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and offering PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 gamers a bit of timed exclusive content and an eye-catching white device and controller.

A senior industry source quoted by MCV revealed that Chart-Track data showed a 300 percent rise in PS4 sales, marking the home console's biggest week in UK so far this year.

The figures further showed that that the PS4 sold twice as much as the Xbox One, which means that Microsoft had a solid week as well, with a significant spike in week-over-week sales as well, due mainly to Destiny being launched, and to the company promoting sales with the lowest price point yet during the week.
