Eric Hirshberg, the leader of the publishing division at Activision, believes that the coming Destiny title from Bungie has the potential to be as successful as Skylanders and Call of Duty, reaching overall sales of more than 1 billion dollars (770 million Euro).

CVG quotes the executive as telling investors that, “We strongly believe we are on pace to set the all-time pre-order record for a new IP.”

Activision plans to launch Call of Duty: Ghosts on November 5 of this year.

Skylanders is also getting access to new creatures in the fall.

Destiny is at the moment set to launch in the first few months of 2014 on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and current-gen consoles.

Bungie is taking its expertise with the shooter, honed on the Halo series, and is adding a social layer, with plenty of interactions between gamers.
