Gaming seems to once again become a subject in the American election cycle with a Democratic candidate in Maine, running for a State Senate seat, attacked by Republicans for the simple fact that she is enjoying playing the MMO World of Warcraft from Blizzard.

Colleen Lachowicz has managed to get an Orc rogue to level 85, which in itself is an achievement for any player, but a website linked to the Republican party is attacking the candidate because she is enjoying a violent game and for the way she is communicating while playing it.

Colleen Lachowicz has reacted by telling NBC News that, “I think it’s weird that I’m being targeted for playing online games. Apparently I’m in good company since there are 183 million other Americans who also enjoy online games.”

She added, “What’s next? Will I be ostracized for playing Angry Birds or Words with Friends? If so, guilty as charged!”
