14 DAY TRIAL // Hidden Path Entertainment, the developer of the very successful Defense Grid: The Awakening, has confirmed that it has managed to successfully fund the creation of a sequel, in the form of Defense Grid 2, which arrives in early 2014.
After the success of The Awakening, Hidden Path launched a Kickstarter project through which fans could fund the creation of a sequel.
Sadly, the project wasn't so successful, although players did manage to raise money for the creation of a new DLC for the original game.
Now, the studio has confirmed on its blog that a mysterious investor has contributed the remaining sum of money and that Defense Grid 2 is now officially in development.
The new tower defense game is set to appear in the first half of 2014 and is planned to be launched for the PC, Mac, and Linux platforms via Steam.
The game will include a multiplayer mode, new characters, fresh towers, as well as new enemies, all running on a new engine.
Expect to hear much more about Defense Grid 2 in the future.
