Capcom confirms that it hasn't cancelled the Deep Down project, despite previous rumors, as it's now working on an overhauled version of the original concept, which is much more ambitious in scope and design.

One of the most intriguing titles promised for the PS4 by Capcom when the console made its debut was Deep Down. The medieval fantasy RPG looked like a spiritual successor to the popular Dragon's Dogma, but it was soon revealed that it would also have a contemporary portion and would be a free-to-play online experience.

Since then, not much else has been heard about it, leading some to speculate that the Japanese company has axed the whole project.

That couldn't be farther from the truth, according to Producer Kazunori Sugiura, who talks with 4Gamer, via DualShockers, about the game and how it's now in a stage where the original concept is being reworked into something more ambitious.

According to the developer, the new version of Deep Down will have a larger scope than what was first announced, although he declined to say just what areas would be reworked.

Sugiura also refrained from saying when Deep Down might get a re-reveal, so expect to hear more in the future about the free-to-play PS4 game.
