The developers at Team Ninja who are working on the fifth installment of Dead or Alive are saying that they are interesting in collaborating with other teams in order to create crossover experiences, although they will not be actively trying to link their own series with Tekken.

Yosuke Hayashi, who is the leader of Team Ninja, has told Edge that “Virtua Fighter was the father of 3D gaming, so it’s very well respected,” suggesting that it would be hard for him to turn down a collaboration proposal from SEGA and AM2.

The new Dead or Alive, which is planned for a Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release later during 2012, will try to move away from the classic mechanics of the series and mix in some emotion among the over the top violence and the sexualized characters.

A new console installment of Virtua Fighter 5, with the Final Showdown name, is also expected during this year.
