The upcoming cooperative survival shooter from Yager Development will be playable at this month's Gamescom in Germany.
The reveal comes from publisher Deep Silver, saying that the game will be present on the show floor at Gamescom, "marking the first time a Dead Island game will be playable on German soil," according to the publisher.
The upcoming horror survival game will be joined by its Deep Silver brethren, Dead Island: Epidemic, Sacred 3, Risen 3: Titan Lords, Emergency 5, and Metro: Redux.
There has been no word regarding Escape Dead Island, the third-person spin-off title, or Homefront: The Revolution, the shooter that the company has just acquired from Crytek.
Deep Silver's parent company, Koch Media, has confirmed having acquired the Homefront IP from Crytek, transferring development to Dambuster Studios, and it looks like we won't be seeing it at Gamescom.
In any case, Dead Island 2's spectacular reveal at E3 promises a much more vibrant and lighthearted, yet profoundly violent version of what we already know, enriched with a ton of new features and a focus on cooperative multiplayer, with the developers comparing the upcoming game to a small-scale MMO.
Dead Island 2 is scheduled for release during the spring of 2015, coming to the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
