The development team working on DayZ says that it is currently designing a new Artificial Intelligence system for the game’s zombie enemies, with creator Dean Hall directly in charge of writing all the new code required for it.

The update will include natural path choices for the undead, mechanics to allow them to avoid obstacles and a new ability to change their move direction based on where the player is located.

The developers are saying that the Alpha for the standalone version of DayZ will go ahead as planned because the structure of the game allows them to simply switch in the new A.I. system when it is finished.

The video from Dean Hall also has information on the other changes that have been made to the game in the last few weeks and how they will impact the gamer’s experience.

DayZ is at the moment created with support from Bohemia Interactive.
