Dawngate, the upcoming multiplayer battle arena from Electronic Arts, is part of a new family that plans to offer a different kind of experience from the consecrated titles in the genre.

Developer Waystone Games has teamed up with Electronic Arts to deliver a different entry in the MOBA genre, shifting the emphasis from the formal dance of preset champions around lines of creeps to resource gathering and character customization.

Dawngate has just entered open beta, and gamers who want to have a look at just how it does things differently can register for free on the game's website and download the client.

The upcoming MOBA boasts a unique and fast-paced experience where your role is not dependent on your choice of avatar and a custom set of objectives allow a flexible approach to the game, permitting unorthodox strategies such as tri-laners and double junglers.

The game offers freedom of choice, freedom of build and freedom of role due to a unique system that allows you to get ahead of the competition without having to be restricted in any way, so that you can contribute to your team while still playing the way you want.
