Players can check out Polygon on information concerning Darkest Dungeon's trailer that was released last week. It seems that the game's trailer shows players what awaits them if they are courageous enough to venture into an “unholy abyss.”

The game is not your average RPG, where every hero wins, but more of a hard-core RPG. Here, the player must lead four heroes on a perilous journey while dealing with countless numbers of life threatening situations.

The developing team decided to have the focus of this project directed onto the psychological vulnerability of the characters as the game's FAQ reads “You will recruit, equip and manage a stable of over 16 heroes, and watch as their experiences organically mold and shape them in positive, and ... not-so-positive, ways.”

Therefore, one can see why it has been described as an “uncompromising RPG about the true cost of adventuring.” By combining innovative combat and an exclusive Affliction System, the concept of RPG has been redefined.

Darkest Dungeon will release in 2014 on Linux, Mac and PC, but the developing team is considering having it made for consoles and tablets too.
