The team at From Software has suggested that it will make its new Dark Souls 2 more accessible, but the studio is also keen to keep the difficulty level of the game as high as possible.

During the Tokyo Games Show, developers quoted by VG247 said that they would implement a new mechanics that would take away a part of a player’s health permanently each time he died.

There’s a 50 percent cap designed to make all characters playable even if they constantly die, but the mechanics still feel very punishing.

From Software is also changing the way inventory works in Dark Souls 2, with three items now equipped for each hand and ten quick item slots accessible via the gamepad.

Dark Souls 2 will be launched on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on March 11 in North America and March 14 of next year in Europe.
