Takeshi Miyazoe, a producer working on Guild Wars 2, says that his team is eager to use the same storytelling mechanics in the upcoming action title, never spelling out exactly what the main character has gone through.

In a bigger Dark Souls 2 interview with VG247, he says that, “What happened to the character is what’s going to be revealed throughout the game itself, but the player will first find himself in this world with this curse of the dark ring. His journey will be to find a cure to that curse.”

The game is designed to be a little more accessible to players than the first title in the series, although From Software team emphasizes that the difficulty level of the actual combat will remain unchanged.

Players will also have more options to deal with bosses and extra character customization.

Dark Souls 2 is set to launch in March 2014 on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
