It appears that publisher Namco Bandai deemed it necessary to lend a helping hand to new players of their just-released action role-playing game Dark Souls 2. And rightly so.

Consequently, the franchise most famous for being difficult just got a 40-minute video meant to prepare players to endure through From Software's creation. Or at least to have a greater chance of not dying right away.

The game doesn't really care which class you initially pick, as character progression is completely customizable. The video gradually goes through the motions, acting as a sort of boot camp for players who find themselves daunted by the game's unforgiving attitude.

The video does a good job of introducing both new and returning players to the game and the changes from the previous installment in the series, explaining how death is handled and how different stats affect different abilities in combat, complete with tips regarding weapon choice, stamina conservation and other intricate details of the enthralling game.

Demanding nothing short of perfection and sometimes even setting you up to lose, the game is both a frustrating and a rewarding experience, and if you haven't already, you can find out more in our review of Dark Souls 2.
