The Collector's Edition of From Software's creation is sold out since last month

Namco Bandai has revealed an interesting piece of information earlier today, when the publisher stated that the pre-orders for Dark Souls II have registered a 50 percent increase from the predecessor's.

The news is hardly surprising, considering that the Dark Souls 2 Collector Edition has been sold out since last month, and the Black Armor Edition is also rumored to have sold out in the passing weeks since then.

It seems that Namco Bandai's warnings for players to pre-order fast in order to avoid missing out were not just a marketing trick after all. And speaking of marketing, the company has confessed to putting in an incredible £1 / $1.67 / €1.21 million into marketing the game to mainstream audiences, and the main bulk of the ad campaign has not kicked in yet, as MCV reports.

"We have everything going for Dark Souls II. The PR and community teams have been incredibly hard at work since the game was first revealed. They have been working like mad getting the game through the specialist and mainstream press channels," Namco Bandai Product Manager Gary Chantler shared.

Dark Souls II will be launched on March 11 in North America, March 13 in Japan and March 14 in Europe and PAL territories, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, with a PC release to follow later on.

An exclusive developer diary detailing the making of Dark Souls 2 has been posted by IGN, and you can watch it for more footage of the upcoming game and for some thoughts from its makers.
