14 DAY TRIAL // The development team at Blizzard is seeking trademark protection for a new product called The Dark Below, which might be a new expansion for its popular MMO World of Warcraft.
MMO Champion has spotted the trademark filing, which refers to "Computer game software downloadable from a global computer network."
In its Monsters Manual, the Warcraft tabletop role-playing game says that the Dark Below is a sort of underworld populated with demons and can be connected to the other planes of the world.
This means that the name could be used for a new expansion for World of Warcraft.
The Dark Below might also be connected to Diablo in some way.
Regardless of the meaning of the name or the game with which it is associated, an official reveal from Blizzard will probably come during its Blizzcon event later in the year.
