DOTA 2 might already be one of the most popular video games on the PC, but the team at Valve has found plenty to improve via the new First Blood update, which will be launched on September 23.

Gamers will be able to engage in locally hosted matches of the Multiplayer Online Battle for the first time, which means that competitions can now take part in smaller arenas with less lag.

At the same time, a new Captain’s Draft mode is being introduced, which allows gamers to truly test their DOTA 2 skills by playing with randomized heroes drawn from a pool of 24 that are selected by the leaders of each team.

The First Blood update will also introduce Portal’s GlaDOS as an announcer and will expand the armory and the items that players can get access to.

The update also comes complete with a hefty list of improvements and balance changes, which are fully detailed in the official DOTA 2 announcement.
