The Valve-organized DOTA 2 tournament The International will take place in Seattle this year, with the competition set to start on August 7.

The official website says that 16 teams will be invited to take part, but at the moment, only one has been selected.

Invictus Gaming, the team that won the 2012 tournament, will be back to defend its titles and Valve says that three slots for The International will be determined by qualifier competitions of DOTA 2 that will take place in the West between May 13 and 19 and in the East from May 20 to 26.

DOTA 2 is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title that’s currently in beta form, with Valve delivering constant updates to introduce new characters and address balance issues.

The first edition of The International had a grand prize of 1 million dollars (710 million Euro) for the winning team.
