There are also tweaks made to leagues and item drops

The development team at Valve is delivering a new update for its Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title DOTA 2, which introduces the Compendium Immortals and also delivers some changes to the way leagues are working.

The official list of modification explains:

- Items now drop for all leagues types with more than 500 spectators. The number of drops increases the more spectators there are. - As of week 3, any fantasy players that are in invalid slots (a Core in a Support slot, or a Support in a Core slot) will score no points. - Amateur leagues will no longer cause players to show up as Scheduled in the fantasy panels. - Fixed fantasy player addition priority being in the wrong order.

DOTA 2 is one of the biggest MOBA titles in the world of gaming, engaged in a long-running competition with League of Legends from Riot Games, with Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm set to offer another big name alternative later in 2014.

The genre has managed to attract a large number of fans and Valve needs to constantly update and tweak the game it is offering in order to keep it attractive in the long term.

In late July, DOTA 2 will be featured in the major The International tournament, which has an increasing prize pool that's funded, in part, by the player community via purchases of the Compendium.
