Gamers will get a more dynamic mix of events during battles

The team at DICE working on Battlefield 4 is introducing a new critical hit mechanic for all vehicles included in the coming first-person shooter in order to create a new dynamic for those who like to use tanks and choppers.

The new feature means that each hit to a vehicle can, based on a variety of elements, become critical, which means that the target loses power or that the player can no longer control it.

The effect is temporary and an Engineer is no longer required in order to get it working again.

The team writes in an official Battlefield 4 blog that, “The critical hit damage threshold is carefully tweaked alongside the damage zones and glancing-hit scaling on each vehicle, in a way that promotes playing smart as both a vehicle operator, and in an anti-vehicle role.”

Battlefield 4 will be launched on the PC and on current-gen consoles on October 29 in North America and on November 1 in Europe.
