Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, the main two developers behind the Criterion Games brand, announce that they are leaving publisher Electronic Arts in order to create a new studio and work on an entirely new video game property.

The official Twitter account of the game maker states, “Just decided to start afresh and form a new games company with @FionaSperry #freshstart.”

The pair has not offered any details on the kind of titles they are interested in developing at the moment.

They have been associated with Criterion Games since it was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2004, for a figure that supposedly hovered around 40 million dollars (31 million Euro).

They are best known for creating the Burnout series and many of the members of the studio voluntarily moved to Ghost Games in 2013 in order to work on Need for Speed video games.

Criterion is developing a new project called Zero, which will be led by Matt Webster from now on.
