The development team at The Creative Assembly says that it is not holding back any content for Total War: Rome II and that the similarities between the recently launched Beasts of War DLC and the pre-launch promotional material are just a marketing error.

Rob Bartholomew, the brand director working on the series, tells Eurogamer that, “The naming is unfortunate, but these aren’t the same units that were then released subsequently as DLC. As with all work in-progress content, it is subject to change and revision before the final game is shipped. Content might be revised for all sorts of reasons involving balancing or quality for example.”

Beasts of War allows gamers to use more dogs in battle, siege weapons with beehives and scorpions, cataphract camels and armored Syrian war elephants.

The DLC is offered for 2.49 dollars or Euro.

The Creative Assembly apologizes for the confusion and says that it has plans to support Total War: Rome II with more content in the future.
