The Virtuix Omni is an omnidirectional treadmill which is designed to be used with an Oculus rift headset and with a motion controller, granting the closest experience to a full-body video game simulation.

It's been seen before in various demos, and now it's time for Counter Strike: Global Offensive to serve this purpose, showing how first-person shooters will be played at some point in the near future.

Right off the bat, the greatest thing about the entire demo is the fact that the get-up seems to be working pretty well. You can't expect the same level of accuracy that you would have with a mouse at this point, so you won't see this kind of VR translate into eSports very soon, but the results look amazing anyway.

The player trying out the Virtuix Omni / Oculus Rift combination seems to be able to put up quite a fight in an online match, holding his own quite decently, all things considered.

This is not likely to become your standard gaming equipment too soon though, because, in spite of the fact that pre-orders are currently available, the Virtuix Omni comes with a hefty price tag of $500 / €365.

In addition to the platform, shoes, belt and tracking hardware and software included in the package, you also have to get an Oculus Rift (development kit priced at $350 / €255), as well as a decent controller, so the costs add up pretty fast.
