The team at video game developer Valve working on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive says that its recently introduced Overwatch initiative is very effective when it comes to limiting the impact of cheating on the competitive shooter experience.

The new system allows the more experienced players to investigate potential cheaters and even issue temporary bans.

Valve says that Overwatch is at the moment “encouragingly successful.”

When the initiative was included in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, some players worried about the possibility of bans issued without any actual proof.

Valve says that, “Every single test case has been correctly dismissed as ‘Insufficient Evidence’, with no false convictions made.”

The company has launched a number of efforts aimed at making the communities built around its titles more friendly and has also recently reported improvements in DOTA 2.
