The Arms Deal initiative for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which saw players earn and buy personalized weapons in the game, has resulted in a bonus amount of prize money for the 2013 DreamHack SteelSeries CS: GO Championship of $250,000 (€187,000).

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive came out last year and its popularity skyrocketed after Valve introduced the Arms Deal mechanic earlier this year, which saw personalized weapons added to the game.

These weapons can only be earned by playing or by buying weapon boxes and keys from the Steam Marketplace.

Using the money earned via a commission, Valve has pledged to increase the prize pools for various Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitions.

The first to benefit from this is the 2013 DreamHack SteelSeries CS: GO Championship, which will take place in Sweden between November 28 and December 1, according to the official website.

Thanks to community transactions, $250,000 (€187,000) have been added to the already impressive prize pool.
