Players will once again have to protect Halloween from threats

The development team at Double Fine announces that it is partnering with Midnight City, the indie publishing arm of Majesco Entertainment, to launch Costume Quest 2, which is set to arrive later in the year on both home consoles and the PC.

The new title promises to take players back to Auburn Pines, allowing them to become Reynold and Wren once again as they seek to make sure that their beloved Halloween remains safe from the dual threats of monsters and grown-ups.

The studio will include a new story, improved combat mechanics and more costumes for gamers to try out and use as they explore the world of the title.

At the moment, neither the developer or the publisher is willing to state whether the game will arrive on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 or just on current-gen devices.

Tim Schafer, the creative director of Double Fine Productions, states, "whenever Halloween came around, I felt like something was missing. No matter how many pumpkins I carved, apples I bobbed, or candy I ate, it just couldn't fill the big spooky hole inside of me. But then I realized what was missing: I needed more Costume Quest."

The game developer apparently also wants a T-shirt that features glowing skulls, which might make an appearance in the coming Costume Quest 2.
