The game is not in any way related to the business deal

Cliff Bleszinski, the veteran game developer who has worked at Epic Games, believes that Markus Persson, aka Notch, has made a mistake when he announced that he was canceling development of a Minecraft version for the Oculus Rift after the Facebook acquisition was announced.

He explains on his official Tumblr that, “Notch, your cancelling Minecraft makes you look like a pouty kid who is taking his ball and going home. It's a bratty and petty move and it saddens me greatly.”

Markus Persson explained that he did not trust Facebook and that he was unwilling to spend any more resources as long as they could be used better elsewhere.

Facebook announced that it was spending 2 billion dollars (1.55 billion Euro), in both cash and shares, in order to acquire the Oculus Rift virtual reality company.

The team had just announced during the Game Developers Conference that it was launching a new developer kit, with improved overall technology, and that a consumer version of the virtual reality headset was still set to arrive in 2014.

Facebook says that the Oculus Rift will be primarily used for gaming, but that it might also become another tool to allow a variety of social network users to connect with one another.
