Cliff Blesinski, the veteran game developer best known for his work on the Gears of War series, announces that his Bosskey studio is at the moment working with publisher Nexon on the creation of a new free-to-play science fiction-themed arena shooter that will use the codename BlueStreak.

On his official Twitter account the developer states, "Friends, @BossKey will be working with Nexon to publish a Free2Play Sci-Fi PC arena shooter code named #BlueStreak. #BossKey #UnlockTheFun"

Cliff Blesinski also says that he has no plans to deliver a fake computer-generated gameplay trailer for the new title because this is one aspect of the game development business that he does not approve of.

Some fans have reacted rather negatively to the announcement of BlueStreak, criticizing the game maker's decision to enter the free-to-play arena and stray from the core shooter market.

Cliff Blesinski says that he will offer more information on the business model, the inspiration for the new title, and the choice of genre at some point later in the week.

The game seems to be in development only for the PC at the moment, but it will probably be ported to next-gen consoles as long as it manages to find a solid audience.
