The development team at Firaxis is entering the final stretch of development work linked to its upcoming Civilization: Beyond Earth, and it seems that one of the wonders that secret projects will be able to create in the game is Promethean Wonder.

David McDonough, one of the co-lead designers working on the title, tells GamesRadar that “The Promethean Wonder is a research project conducted in the narrative of Beyond Earth where a single genotype has been created that is flawless.”

The team was inspired to create it by the current research efforts that are ongoing at the moment, based on the Human Genome Project, with the aim of eliminating certain diseases using genetic therapy.

Civilization: Beyond Earth will base all its core tech and projects on currently available technology, but Firaxis plans to then explore how it might develop in the next couple hundred years to offer gamers more advances for their faction.

The turn-based strategy title is designed to resemble the classic Alpha Centauri experience, but the development team does not want to create a direct successor, instead focusing on new mechanics and civilizations.

Civilization: Beyond Earth will be launched on October 24 and can be played only on the PC.
