The development team at Firaxis and publisher 2K Games have revealed a new, almost one-hour-long Civilization: Beyond Earth video, which is designed to give fans of the turn-based strategy series a look at the early game and the choices a player can make in order to make his faction evolve on the hostile alien planet.
The company is using developer Pete Murray and co-lead designer David McDonough to deliver quite a lot of information about the main features of the title.
Civilization: Beyond Earth does use classic turn-based strategy mechanics, but Firaxis is also adding a layer of role-playing mechanics, with choices about the type of spaceship, the leader, and the initial loadout designed to have an impact on the final fate of a faction.
The studio is also planning to introduce tweaks to gameplay, with an extra layer of placement for satellites, a tech web instead of the classic three, and some big modifications to how leaders interact with one another.
Civilization: Beyond Earth will be launched on October 24 on the PC, and gamers can also choose to pick up a newly-announced Classics Pack that also includes the third, fourth, and fifth Civilization games with all their expansions.
