The development team at Firaxis and publisher 2K Games have announced that they plan to launch Civilization: Beyond Earth on October 24 of this year, and the two companies are also launching a new Inside Look video for the game, designed to deliver more information on the leaders that gamers can play as, the core mechanics, and the narrative.

The details are offered by the two co-leading designers working on the turn-based strategy experience, Will Miller and David McDonough.

Gamers who are willing to pre-order the game will get access to the Exoplanets Map Pack for free, which means they will be able to explore and colonize six special worlds based on already discovered extra-solar planets.

Civilization: Beyond Earth is a complex video game that uses the familiar template of the series, but also seeks to introduce a number of changes and new ideas.

Gamers will once again need to use just one military unit per hex, but they will now have access to a new orbital action layer and more options to bypass enemy lines.

The technology element of the turn-based strategy title is now laid out as a web, giving players more freedom.

Civilization: Beyond Earth will feature a complex alien ecosystem that gamers will have to deal with before they compete with other human factions.
