Chroma has just been revealed by the development team at Harmonix and it’s still difficult to understand exactly how the mix of rhythm game and first-person shooter will work when it is finally launched.
But the studio believes that the mystery surrounding the game and the interesting mix of ideas will make it a success in the crowded free-to-play FPS market.
John Drake, a director working at Harmonix, tells Gamasutra that, “I think that five-minute window for us is explaining why it's different. In a community where everybody's saying ‘oh, another brown shooter,’ we can say ‘our game is different, and here are some ways you can see that difference’.”
The development team will create a set of tutorial missions that will explain the core mechanics and will guide players towards a mechanic that suits their sensibilities.
Chroma does not have a launch window yet.
