The Child’s Play charity says that it has managed to raise a little over 7.6 million dollars (5.3 million Euro) during the whole of 2013, with a big part of the sum coming from donations that were linked to the video game world.

Jamie Dillon, a project manager for the organization, is quoted by Gamasutra as saying that, “The community coming together for 10 years has now resulted in $25,196,670. We are humbled, proud, and overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you for making 2013 our best year yet.”

All the money that Child’s Play raises are used to buy toys, games and other supplies for children who are in hospitals or in shelters across the United States.

A pilot program that targets domestic violence victims was launched in 2013 and after its initial success, it will be expanded this year.

Child’s Play is supported by a number of video games companies and groups via marathon playing sessions during which donations are accepted and matched.
