Whatever your opinion might be on the actual gameplay, one thing is for certain: Ready at Dawn's The Order: 1886 has some of the best visuals ever crafted for a new-gen video game.

The game looks stunning and painstakingly detailed, from the overdesigned empty rooms to the fluid animations and the way its manly mustaches react when the wind is blowing.

Character models and animations look impressive and have a very realistic quality to them, at least in syntax, if not in semantics, considering how long it takes for a feral werewolf to finally get to biting your neck, after stomping on you and patiently waiting for you to grab your blade and slash it.

Senior Animator Jason Shum has released two videos offering a more detailed look at how the animations in The Order: 1886 were put together, even going as far as to show us how things are done starting with motion capture, keyframe animation, and the progression all the way to the final version that we get to see in the game.

The Order: 1886 was released at the end of February, exclusively on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony. It follows the adventures of a secret order of knights fighting an ancient supernatural threat, with the aid of steampunk technology.
