Publisher Konami has revealed some new information regarding the Mastery System in their just-released Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, also coming with a small gameplay trailer showing the system in action.

The new adaptive combat elements introduced in the conclusion to the Lords of Shadow story arc are showcased in the new trailer, showing how users are now able to create modified combat elements within the game.

The new game's story follows Dracula, as he is once again awakened from slumber and finds himself in a weakened state. Players have to help him regain his legendary powers, and the new system is an integral part of combat, as his abilities gradually become more powerful.

Gamers can gain experience points by defeating enemies and solving various puzzles, and then make use of them to enhance their combat prowess, by improving the game's three main weapons, the Shadow Whip, Chaos Claws and Void Sword.

Each of the weapons has its own skill tree that players can use, in order to level up their weapons according to their play style.

The more a weapon is used to execute key combination attacks, the more that weapon's power grows, and developer Mercury Steam has also made sure that experimentation is rewarded in their game, with increased power as more challenging attacks are perfectly delivered.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 has just been launched today in Europe, and is available in North America since February 25, for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
