Independent video game developer Jason Rohrer announces that he is running a Steal Real Money promotion for its Castle Doctrine, which is designed to reward all those who steal virtual currency in the game with real-world funds.

All those interested need to play the game before 5 PM Pacific Standard Time on January 27 and the money they end up holding will be converted and they will get a part of the 3,000 dollars (2,300 Euro) that Rohrer is putting up.

In an official announcement, the developer explains that, “My budget is small, and running this kind of contest is way cheaper and more interesting than advertising. It matches the spirit of the game and doesn't bother people who are not already interested in the game.”

Gamers who do not get money can gain access to other prizes that are linked to The Castle Doctrine, a game that challenges players to protect their own homes while gaining access to others.
