Video game developer Carbine says that it is flattering when people compare its upcoming Wildstar with World of Warcraft because the Blizzard MMO has managed to remain relevant for close to ten years.

Matt Mocarski, the art director, is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “The art has evolved over time, but Blizzard created a great foundation for a style that could last that long, because it’s about the craftsmanship and the art of it, not the latest new graphics or high-tech tricks.”

Wildstar wants to be a distinct experience and aims to capture the attention of players by using bright colors and a more exaggerated cartoon style.

The Carbine-made MMO will be launched in the first half of 2014 and the development team says that it will charge a monthly subscription, while also allowing gamers to earn extra game time simply by playing the MMO.
