The development team at Infinity Ward and publisher Activision announce that they are allowing all gamers who have bought a current-gen version of Call of Duty: Ghosts to upgrade their experience to one based on the new Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for another seven days.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of the series and more details are offered on the official site of the game, including a lot of details about how the process works and what costs are associated with it.

Gamers who upgrade their copy of the shooter will be able to keep all the progress they have made so far.

Because Call of Duty: Ghosts was developed at the same time for all platforms on which it was launched, there are no differences in terms of gameplay between them, although careful gamers might notice some graphics improvements on next-gen devices.

The first-person shooter was launched late in 2013 and at the moment, Infinity Ward still plans to deliver two more downloadable content packs for it.

This year's installment in the series is being created by Sledgehammer Games and the studio says that it plans to deliver an innovative and interesting experience.

More details about it will be offered at E3 2014.
