Before the next GTA appears, Activision wants to launch a more successful Call of Duty

Activision, the publisher of the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts first-person shooter, wants to break the sales record set by Grand Theft Auto 5 last month.

GTA V appeared in September for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms and set new world records in terms of sales, making developer Rockstar and publisher Take-Two a lot of money.

Activision, the owner of another big video game franchise, Call of Duty, wants to break GTA 5's record as soon as possible, and it has high hopes for November's Call of Duty: Ghosts.

"Congratulations to the team at Rockstar for their success. We look forward to getting the record back before the next GTA title," Activision UK Senior Brand Manager Kevin Flynn told MCV.

Considering Rockstar's slow release cycle, it will be quite a few years before the next big GTA appears.

Activision, on the other hand, launches a new Call of Duty game each year.
