Eric Hirshberg, the leader of the publishing division at Activision, acknowledges that the transition to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 has had a slight effect on the recently launched Call of Duty: Ghosts, but has no impact on the future prospects of the franchise.

He tells VideoGamer that, “We’ve been pretty transparent all year that we think, because of the challenges of the console transition year, that that was likely in the short-term. I think it would be a mistake to conflate the challenges of the console transition year with any indications about the health of the franchise.”

Activision has announced that Ghosts has broken pre-order records for the series and we will soon learn whether it managed to become the biggest entertainment launch of the year, as it predecessors have done.

The new Call of Duty is available on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the PC, the Wii U and current-gen consoles.
