We reported earlier today on the first screenshots of an unannounced game mode for Call of Duty: Ghosts, which was supposedly called Extinction, and now Activision and Infinity Ward have made it official.

The new 1-4 player cooperative game will be released along with the base game on November 5, on PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360.

The new mode has been confirmed in a new trailer, which hints at various classes that will be available to players who will be able to level up as they play Extinction.

For the time being, there's no telling whether or not all the achievements in the Extinction game mode will add other multiplayer modes to the progression in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction will put up to 4 players in the shoes of soldiers fighting aliens that hatch from the pods scattered throughout the level. According to Activision, mode details will be available soon, so stay tuned.
