Sony has confirmed that a Call of Duty game for the PlayStation Vita is set to appear this autumn and it will be an “absolute game-changer” for the new handheld platform.

The PlayStation Vita is out this week, on February 22, and will see the release of quite a lot of high quality games both now and in the near future.

Chief among the future Vita games is Activision’s Call of Duty title, which was confirmed late last year. Since then, not a lot has been known about the shooter and how it will behave on the mobile console.

Now, thanks to Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Senior Vice President of PlayStation Brand Marketing, Guy Longworth, we at least know that Call of Duty for the Vita will arrive in autumn.

According to the executive, who talked with GameTrailers, the shooter will be “an absolute game-changer for the platform.”

No other details have been given but, at least according to reports from last week, the new game might be Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Expect some official announcements later this year.
