Infinity Ward, the developer behind the hugely successful Call of Duty series and the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts, believes that typical fans of the franchise are actually casual gamers or not even gamers, as they just play Call of Duty every night.

Infinity Ward is getting ready to debut Call of Duty: Ghosts next month and the new first-person shooter has already gotten lots of people interested in it.

Among that audience are very few hardcore gamers, according to the studio's Executive Producer, Mark Rubin, who believes that there are way more casual fans of the series.

"We have an enormous amount of players who are more in the casual game space, but they play a lot," he told OXM. "It's kind of a weird, ironic thing to say. They aren't hardcore gamers, or even gamers, but they play Call of Duty every night."

As such, given this nature, the transition towards next-gen console and the fierce competition from the likes of Battlefield 4 won't affect the popular of Call of Duty: Ghosts.
