Activision and Treyarch have effectively confirmed that the next game in the Call of Duty series will be Black Ops III, via a teaser trailer that depicts the number 3 in Roman numerals, as well as a full reveal date of April 26.

The Call of Duty series has been around for quite some time, and publisher Activision has recently entered a three-year development process alongside the actual studios that are working on the series. Sledgehammer Games took three years to bring Advanced Warfare in 2014, and this year Treyarch is set to present its project in the series.

After a teaser campaign using Snapchat, an official teaser trailer has spread onto YouTube through a variety of popular Call of Duty content creators and streamers.

The footage depicts some iconic phrases from the Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 titles, and ends with the Roman numeral for 3, effectively confirming that the next game in the first-person shooter series is Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

The full reveal is set to take place on April 26, so expect the first gameplay footage of the new shooter to appear at that time. Afterwards, more videos and details are likely to appear at the E3 2015 event in June.

Update: Activision officially mentions that it's Call of Duty: Black Ops III on its website. Expect more details on April 26.
