Apparently, a Call of Cthulhu next-gen game is currently being developed by Frogwares, the makers of the Sherlock Holmes series of games.

Publisher Focus Home Interactive released some images with concept art for the upcoming game, offering a glimpse of the dark world players will be able to explore.

Call of Cthulhu emerged in the '80s as a pen and paper role-playing game based on H. P. Lovecraft's rich mythos, and many other games set in Lovecraft's universe have been created since then, to the point where it has become one of the most popular dark fantasy settings.

The images posted on Focus Home Interactive's Imgur portray the foreboding atmosphere encountered in the influential horror writer's stories, showing some popular backdrops of the genre like rundown mansions, an abandoned cemetery and some men hanged in an underground cave where unholy rituals are performed.
