The development team working on Destiny says that it expects players to initially use classic MMO archetypes for cooperative content, but that as the game progresses, each character setup will be tweaked for improved performance.

Eric Osborne, the main writer, tells Eurogamer that player teams will have to mix abilities in order to perform well during the toughest challenges that the shooter has to offer.

David Dague, the community manager at Bungie, adds, “But if somebody chooses a long-range class and a close-range class and then a flexible, I destroy everything that comes in my path class, they're going to find they have a lot more options for how they can approach the enemies.”

The development team wants Destiny to be a very social experience, encouraging players to collaborate with others in order to deal with the strongest enemies in the game.

The shooter will be launched on current-gen consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in the second quarter of 2014.
