The team says that security devices might be to blame

It seems that the problems that those trying to play Destiny have been having with university networks are closer to being solved by the team at Bungie, although it might take some time before an official fix is actually launched.

The official forums of the title are stating, “We’re making progress toward a solution to the university network issue. A potential cause are security devices that don’t recognize Destiny network traffic. We’re in touch with the manufacturers of these devices to create an update that we hope will enable you to play.”

Bungie is also saying that those affected might need to work with the network administrator in order to fully solve the issue.

Overall, the launch of Destiny has gone by remarkably smooth, given the big number of players that the infrastructure needs to deal with.

The alpha and the beta testing periods that the game had earlier in the summer are probably partially responsible for that.

Destiny is designed to be an ever evolving experience, and the developers are saying that they will implement changes based on the feedback coming from the community.

A full downloadable content pack for the shooter, called The Dark Below, will be offered on all platforms before the end of the year.
