Bulletstorm has been launched last week and we've already posted our review for People Can Fly's bombastic shooter.

The plot of the game is a pretty simple one, with a rag tag team of mercenaries, Dead Echo, being marooned on a dangerous planet after trying to take down a government general that betrayed them.

They must now brave the dangers of the planet, its mutated tribal gangs as well as plenty of other challenges in order to find the general and secure their rescue.

While this offers a great backdrop for all the shooting you're going to do in Bulletstorm, the game is more than just a mindless shooter.

Sure, you get around to killing a huge amount of enemies through elaborate and imaginative ways, thanks to the skillshot mechanic, but you also experience some unique locations, the stories behind them as well as meet some out of the ordinary characters.

First up, we have the planet of Stygia, a former resort destination which has fallen in disarray after cataclysmic events, and is now in the hands of several gangs of mercenaries that fight for supremacy.

There's more to it than meets the eye, and you can clearly pick up a few clever jokes made on the current consumerist society we live in, especially during the Worst Family Fun Vacation Ever chapter.

After that, Grayson Hunt, the main character, as well as his comrades that form Dead Echo, seem like dim-witted, gun-happy jarheads, but they do have feelings, emotions and, in some cases, even a conscience.

The characters they meet along the way, like Trishka or General Sarrano, are also quite unique. Trishka may seem like a tough woman trying to duke it out with the men in the mercenary field, but she's driven by more than that, and her backstory is quite touching.

General Sarrano, on the other hand, is one of the most foul-mouthed, racist and just evil characters ever to grace interactive entertainment. You'll spend a few chapters with him during which the words that will come out of his mouth will amaze even those who thought they heard it all.

Bulletstorm is a great and fun shooter, but it also backs its gameplay up with a good plot and story, making it a complete package.
