Ludometrics is currently working on a PlayStation Vita exclusive sports game, Bodycheck, planning to introduce gamers to the Middle Ages football league and its marvelous peculiarities.

“Bodycheck is a sports game for people who don’t necessarily like sports,” Ludometrics boss David Thomson stated during the announcement on PSBlog.

“I find most sports games of recent years lack a certain something-something. Perhaps they’re not visceral enough, or they manage not to capture the chaos of play, or sometimes they’re just a bit ponderous to play,” he explained.

Therefore, he and his Glasgow-based team have set out to deliver a unique take on sports games, featuring a lot of “punching, scratching, and general unnecessary roughness,” as is appropriate in a Middle Ages football game.

Although Bodycheck will not feature the legendary 500-man teams and days-long matches that the origins of football entail, Ludometrics will bring a twist, providing players with powerful magic spells, nefarious items such as portable holes and bribes for the timekeeper, to end the game while you're ahead.

Bodycheck is expected in Q3 2014 on the PlayStation Vita, with multiplayer support for up to four people.
